AWAY AWAY! Chorley 1 - 2 FC United

Well, WHAT A RESULT THAT WAS!
Yesterday, united traveled a short distance to Chorley to take on the magpies, and what a game it was. In my opinion there wasn't a dull moment for the whole 90 minutes (that might be because we didn't stop singing from behind the goal all game!) In the first half, we were the better side and were unfortunate not to go into the break with the lead after Norton's goal was cancelled out by an equalizer about 10 minutes later.

But in the second half there was not much for us to shout about, Chorley kept the ball well and created numerous chances in which they deserved a goal. But, for a change United defended extremely well as a unit and coped with the wave after wave of attack that came our way. And, the lads finally got their reward for their hard work we won a freekick just outside the area after a quick counter attack. Rick Astley in net for the magpies failed to organise his wall and Matthew Tierney stepped up and bent it round the 2 man wall, into the top corner of the goal! I had a perfect view of the goal, as did most of the fans behind the net, and I have not heard a cheer as load as we did all season. We did not shut up until the train ride home!

Never gonna give you up - Rick Astley

Well Done Lads!

Chorley vs FC United - The BIG one

I have once again, decided to resume with this blog in hope that i will carry it on for a long time, and gain interest from united fans all over the world. So, lets begin!

Its the one we all look forward to on Saturday as we travel to Victory Park to face our local rivals Chorley FC. At the start of the season, many people were tipping both United and Chorley to be battling for the title, and most fans saw this point as a top of the table clash which could be very important during the course of the season. However, both teams have been disappointing so far this season, and find themselves in 7th place (Chorley) and 11th place (FC). But of course, this is still a very important game, as this could kicks-start one of the team's campaign.

Last time the two sides met, it was we who came out on top, winning 0 - 2 to send us into the Play Off Final, in which we lost 1 - 0 to Bradford Park Avenue. I was lucky enough to go to the Semi-Final win, and The Reds put in a really good performance and actually played Chorley off the park (something we haven't been able to say frequently this season!) And lets hope, after two defeats on the spin, that we can repeat the performance of last year and take away all 3 points and start our promotion push once again!

I fully expect there to be a great travelling support, and for us all to get behind the boys as usual and spur them towards the desperately needed win!
